Beyond the wall switch
Smart lighting is not a product category — it is a control philosophy. The same luminaire performs differently depending on how it is dimmed, grouped, scheduled, and triggered. Trappnarco ApS designs the logic layer: which sensors talk to which circuits, how scenes transition during a restaurant service, and how a home's lighting adapts when Copenhagen's winter darkness arrives at 15:30.
We are protocol-agnostic. Our designers hold certifications across DALI-2, KNX, Casambi Bluetooth mesh, Lutron HomeWorks, and Philips Dynalite. We recommend systems based on project scale, existing infrastructure, client technical comfort, and long-term maintenance — not manufacturer partnerships.
Systems we design
DALI-2
Industry standard for commercial and high-end residential. Individual addressable drivers, daylight harvesting, and integration with BMS via gateways. Ideal for new-build projects with structured cabling.
KNX
European bus protocol for whole-building automation. Lighting, blinds, HVAC, and security on one backbone. Preferred for large residential villas and commercial headquarters.
Casambi
Bluetooth mesh for retrofit projects where rewiring is impractical. Wireless switches, scene control via app, and no central processor required. Popular in Copenhagen apartment renovations.
Lutron
HomeWorks QSX for premium residential and hospitality. Smooth dimming curves, Ketra tunable white, and shade integration. Excellent for listed buildings with sensitive fabric requirements.
Smart lighting capabilities
- Occupancy & vacancy sensing — automatic off in unoccupied zones with grace periods to prevent nuisance switching
- Daylight harvesting — continuous dimming based on measured lux levels at work surfaces, reducing energy use by 20–40%
- Circadian tuning — colour temperature shifts from 6500K morning to 2700K evening, supporting sleep-wake cycles
- Scene programming — named presets (Presentation, Dining, Cleaning, Night) triggered by wall panels, app, or schedule

Retrofit vs new-build
Copenhagen's housing stock is predominantly pre-1960 in the inner city. Retrofit smart lighting must work with existing wiring, concrete ceilings, and tenant association approval processes. We specialise in wireless-first strategies (Casambi, Lutron RA2 Select) that minimise structural intervention while delivering full scene control.
