Our story

Trappnarco ApS was founded in 2013 at our current studio on Vesterbrogade, in the heart of København V. What began as a two-person practice serving Frederiksberg renovation projects has grown into a team of six lighting designers, two project coordinators, and a dedicated commissioning specialist — all based in Copenhagen.

We chose the name Trappnarco as a reference to the Danish word for staircase (trappe) and the narrative arc light creates as it guides movement through vertical space. Stairs, corridors, and transitional zones remain a core strength: places where lighting most directly affects safety, mood, and spatial perception.

Registered as Trappnarco ApS with CVR number 38472915, we operate exclusively within Denmark and select Nordic cross-border projects. Our clients include private homeowners, architecture firms, property developers, and commercial tenants across the Capital Region.

Our approach

We reject the idea that more luminaires equal better design. Every fixture in our schemes earns its place through function, glare control, maintenance access, and energy performance. We specify products from established European manufacturers — ERCO, iGuzzini, Louis Poulsen, Flos Professional, and Danish brands such as LE Klint and Normann Copenhagen Lighting — always matched to project budget and lifecycle cost.

Our design methodology follows the IES Layered Lighting framework adapted for Nordic conditions: low sun angles, long winters, and high expectations for hygge-compatible dimming. We produce photometric calculations, circuit schedules, and electrician-ready documentation in Danish and English.

Core values

Precision

Photometric data drives every decision. We calculate illuminance levels, uniformity ratios, and UGR values before specifying a single product.

Sustainability

LED sources with minimum 50,000-hour L70 ratings, recyclable housings, and schemes designed to reduce installed load by 15–30% versus conventional layouts.

Collaboration

We work alongside architects from early concept stage. Late-stage lighting additions cost more and perform worse — we advocate for integrated planning.

Transparency

Fixed-fee packages, itemised quotes, and no commission from suppliers. Our revenue comes from design fees alone.
